2008-07-20 - Rain, over and over again

On Sunday it rained again and the track did not dry up. Bergmeister and Asch showed a worth seeing fight for position 4 which was finally won by Asch. They drove together to the pit for the drivers change. Stippler was a bit faster than Schmickler and so, both cars were on a similar level the complete pit lane long. The exterior mirrors touched several times and after the freeing of the limiters Stippler was able to regain the 4th place. In the last 10 remaining laps the distance to the 3rd placed Vojtech/Lacko could be shortened from 28 to 4 seconds - an overtaking, however, was not possible, since the lapped Matzke/Skula blocked their teammates despite of the fact that the blue flag had been waved for several laps.

Stippler: "The race was fun, we drove good times - unfortunately, the lapped drivers were allowed to interfere for such a long time in the fight for the podium ranking. Regarding to the placed weight that we had on board, we got the most of what had been possible. Now, we have to place 20 more kilos for the race at the Nürburgring, this will get hard."
