When Marcus von Oyenhausen entered the pit lane in his Jaguar E-Type earlier than planned, after a brilliant starting turn and with a lead of 90 seconds over the second placed Cobra, the team was rather facing the dropping out then the completion of the race since the clutch was out of function. Stippler's task was at first to leave the pit without a functioning clutch and to steer the car as fast as possible in the pending finishing turn without damaging the gearbox. The lead could be extended to 3 minutes under these circumstances and could be kept.

Stippler: „This was great fun – it was a big challenge without clutch, but finally it has worked out fine. Marcus is driven a really good turn and Stefan Sautter besides daugther have constructed a fantastic car. When the clutch had been repaired the gearbox went through the whole weekend uncomplainingly.“
